MARCH NEWS

Welcome to the rebirth of the Dutty Artz newsletter! This will be a monthly update to inform you of all the latest and greatest happenings from Dutty Artz.

March 5th - Thogolobea

Dutty Artz releases Sierra Leonean singer's latest album: Very few musicians can claim the kind of life hardships that Sorie Kondi has had to endure, but then few musicians can claim the kind of musical prodigy, linguistic abilities, and singing powers that have raised him from the streets of Sierra Leone to the world stage. Sorie Kondi is simply put, one of a kind. To read more of Sorie Kondi's amazing story click here!

March 26th - The Empire Never Ended

Dutty Artz label co-founder releases his latest album: Matt Shadetek's genre blending music has always been at the forefront of innovation in New York's contemporary electronic music scene. His latest effort is an explicit return to his Hip Hop roots. ”After I moved back to NYC after living in Berlin I wanted to make something more local,” Shadetek says, “I grew up on rap music but there was a moment where things just got really boring and my interest went elsewhere. Lately things are getting interesting again.” Check previews of several songs on Matt's Soundcloud, and keep up with updates on our website related to touring, The Empire Never Ended release party, and a live-streamed performance.

February Mixtape Mondays

Last month we dropped a series of mixes by Dutty Artz members both old and new. We featured a sonidero-style Cumbia battle between DJ Rupture and Sonido Martines, premiered the mixtape debut from DJ Ushka, held the Dutty Artz inauguration of DJ Ripley, and hosted a trans-continental conversation between Chief Boima and Geko Jones. Get them all today!

The Duttycast

In February we launched a new series of live online shows and events! The Duttycast is our attempt to keep you connected to the latest trends and topics in the music world and beyond. For the first Duttycast, DJ Ripley hosted a panel on State funding for the arts in international collaborations. The second Duttycast, coming on March 29th, will be a live remix performance by Matt Shadetek of his album, The Empire Never Ended! All episodes will eventually be archived and uploaded for later viewing.
